Theoria 15
Eyes: radiant dawn baths
light become heaven
supernovas from Eden
invisible hosts
of a chemical river
pouring from starbirth
transformations
at the rim of the world
life become blessed
in the eyes of a girl:
I look at you
you look at me
in a courtyard near Florence
begin to see
light waves trembling
through love's radiant spectra:
Apparuit iam beatitudo vestra.
Note
The Latin phrase has been translated in various ways, for instance as “Now is your bliss made manifest” and “Now your source of joy has been revealed”. It occurs in the Vita Nuova and is spoken by the voice which travels from Dante’s soul and intellect to his eyes when he first sees Beatrice near Florence.
